Literacy Highland Lakes
Mission
LHL is dedicated to providing opportunities for Highland Lakes area adults to earn their high school equivalency certificate and to become more proficient in English as they prepare for the US citizenship test.

History
In 1987 the Literacy Council was formed and began promoting literacy for adults in the Burnet County area. GED
and ESL (English-as-a-second-language) In 2005, our Council elected to change our name to Literacy Council of the Highland Lakes, placing the emphasis on literacy and better reflecting the community we serve. We have since shortened our name to Literacy Highland Lakes.
LHL Funding
We receive our funding from private foundations, corporations, businesses, organizations, and individuals who believe in what we do and share our vision of promoting literacy. Literacy Highland Lakes is very thankful for the growing support of so many individuals, businesses, foundations, and groups.
